A combination of shooting, teaching, and computer skills give me a unique perspective on the development of on-line instruction.

Shooting History

My father gave me a Marlin Model 100 one for Christmas, 1959. It replaced a Daisy Red Rider BB gun.

After I learned the safety rules Dad took me out to a convenient patch of desert and taught me too shoot. I learned more as a Boy Scout taking Marksmanship merit badge, and earning medals as a junior member of the National Rifle Association.

I went on to serve as an officer in the U.S. Army Infantry, including a tour in Viet Nam.

I am a member, and past officer of the Buck and Bull Club, Kerrville, as well as a life member of the Texas State Rifle Association and the National Rifle Association. I am second vice-president of the Texas Concealed Handgun Instructor Association.

Becoming an Outdoors-Woman Instructor

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, since 1993.

The Becoming an Outdoors-Woman program grew out of a 1990 Wisconsin study which found that out of 21 identified reasons why more women don't participate in outdoor activities, 14 centered on lack of introductory training. The smorgasbord BOW weekends seek to remedy that. The first ever event was held in 1991. Next year there will be BOW weekends in most states, and a number of events in Texas. What happens at BOW?
